a great series is the rot and ruin series. it’s about the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse, and explores the meaning of being a human. Unlike many zombie movies and books, the protagonists actually feel something when they kill zombies, and it’s not joy, just necessity. They also rarely kill zombies without having tried to avoid it first. the main character, Benny, and his girlfriend, brother, and friend, all go out into the “rot and ruin”, the world outside their fenced in town, to find civilization, people who are trying to rebuild after the apocalypse.

One series that I absolutely love is H.I.V.E. by Mark Walden. If you like sci-fi, you’re going to LOVE H.I.V.E.! Our story begins in London with the main character, Otto Malpense. Otto lives in an orphanage that seems to rely mostly on his leadership rather than the owners; this being due to his strange I.Q. level. After a rather…interesting mishap involving the Prime Minister, a robot constructed out of stolen goods, and some spectacular technology dabbling in mind-control, Otto is captured and wakes up on a helicopter who-knows-how-much later. Welcome to H.I.V.E., The Higher Institute for Villainous Education.

What, did you think the evil masterminds of the world just popped up?
